Here is what Mama's & Partners are saying about Fireweed Birth & Beyond!
At Fireweed Birth & Beyond, I believe every client deserves continuous, compassionate care throughout labor. While I prioritize attending every birth personally, I also maintain a trusted network of experienced backup doulas.
In the rare event that I am unavailable due to illness or attending another birth, you will still receive aligned, high-quality support from a doula who shares my approach to care. Whenever possible, I arrange an introduction to your backup doula ahead of time so you feel fully supported and prepared.

Kayla was such a blessing to our family! We are so glad we decided to have her as our doula.
She empowered me through education during our prenatal appointments, helped me learn tools for advocacy, and was an amazing asset to my birth team. Kayla's support helped me to achieve the physiological birth that I valued! She provided a calming, reassuring presence throughout my pregnancy, labor, and postpartum period.
She is a fantastic doula whom I would highly recommend!

As a partner I really appreciated the resources that Kayla provided to help me support my wife throughout her pregnancy and birth. It meant a lot to me that she also considered how I may be feeling and helped me to have a better understanding of what to expect at the hospital.
During my wife's labor and birth, I noticed how Kayla was communicating with the staff to make sure they understood our birth plan. She stepped in whenever I needed a break and made sure the nurses respected our wishes when we needed space. Kayla's medical knowledge and kind personality helped me to feel more confident in my ability to support my wife

As a first-time mom living far away from my support system, I desired to find a doula for support throughout my pregnancy, labor, and postpartum. Kayla provided all of that and more, and I truly cannot overstate the difference she made for my family!
From our initial meeting, throughout the online birth course, and during our virtual and in-person meetings, she helped me learn, empowered me to advocate for myself, and answered all my questions.
When plans for my birth shifted due to medical circumstances, she helped my husband and I navigate the emotions and logistics that came with that change. The moment she entered my birth space, I felt I could truly relax. She was a calming anchor for me throughout my labor.
She was just as much of a support for my husband—throughout our time working together, I saw him gain confidence in how to physically and emotionally support me, and advocate for me during labor. Because of her help, he was able to respond to my needs calmly and be my primary support person during my birth.
Kayla truly was an answered prayer for us. Her passion and dedication to supporting families is incredible.
I wholeheartedly recommend her to anyone looking for a doula!

There are truly not enough words to describe what Kayla means to me and my motherhood journey.
I hired her as my birth doula, but what she gave me went so far beyond birth. As a first-time mom, I was scared. I had no idea what I was doing. I felt overwhelmed, uncertain, and full of fears I didn’t always know how to put into words. From the very beginning, Kayla held space for all of it. She listened to every fear without judgment. She validated me. She reassured me.
The moment I met her, I felt safe. Her presence alone brought a sense of calm I didn’t even realize I needed. In the most vulnerable season of my life, she was steady, grounded, and strong for me when I didn’t feel strong myself.
Postpartum is where she truly shined for me. It never felt like this was just her job. She showed up for me in ways I didn’t even know to ask for. She advocated for me, encouraged me, checked in on me, and reminded me constantly that I was capable. She was my biggest supporter and my personal cheerleader when I doubted myself. Kayla didn’t just help me give birth to my baby — she helped me step into motherhood. She helped me believe I could do this.
She is incredibly knowledgeable and well-connected, and she always had the right information or resource at the right time. But beyond her skill and professionalism, she is just an extraordinary human being. She’s sweet, funny, and somehow always knew how to make me laugh even on the hardest days. She works so hard, she cares so deeply, and you can feel that this work is part of who she is. She’s also an amazing mom herself, which shines through in the compassion and understanding she brings to every interaction. I only wish I had hired her sooner. If you are considering working with Kayla, please do.
Having her by your side is a gift you will never regret.

My husband and I asked Kayla to join our care team at the very last-minute - 39.5 weeks. Though this would be our third birth, we had never hired a doula before, and we were optimistic about the experience to come.
We found ourselves deeply at odds with our provider and wanted extra, expert support in advocating for our wishes and avoiding interventions we felt were unnecessary. Kayla *dove* into supporting us despite the short timeline. She attended prenatal appointments, provided us with crucial education on the options we had, connected us with other amazing birth workers in the Fairbanks community to gain perspective, and helped us diplomatically navigate the stressful interactions with our provider while prioritizing our wishes and intuition.
But most of all, Kayla provided calm and compassionate reassurance and support when we were the most overwhelmed and emotionally exhausted. In the end, Kayla helped us achieve the birth experience we had hoped for, through an approach rooted in belief in the power and wisdom of the birthing person.
Hiring Kayla was a pivotal moment that transformed our birth journey from stressful to empowered, and the memories of our incredible birth will forever be worth every penny. We are so grateful!!

I reached out to Kayla at about 34 weeks pregnant looking for a doula for birth support. I was going for a VBAC after a cesarean with my first baby.
From the very beginning, Kayla was very responsive and engaged. I was told that I would have a 50% chance of success for a VBAC as once again my baby was measuring large. Kayla met up with me and my significant other and listened to our concerns, she then provided resources that would assist with our concerns. I went into labor at 38 weeks and 6 days, but had started feeling some contractions two days before. I messaged Kayla through it all and she explained that she was under the weather.
She then quickly set up a meeting with a backup so that I would be introduced to her in case she couldn’t make it. I felt supported even with the uncertainty of a sick doula. I went into labor and Kayla and her backup responded quickly. Unfortunately, the backup doula was engaged with another laboring mother!
Once again, Kayla stepped up and reached out to another doula. I was never worried, I felt supported even through all the backups. I ended up with a doula named Rebecca and I know, with 100% certainty, that a VBAC wouldn’t have been possible without Kayla and her team. The support of a doula was a must for me!

I went into my pregnancy fully intending to have an unmedicated birth and that was the plan throughout my entire journey. Kayla supported me every step of the way and provided so many helpful resources and insights. Even though this was my third birth, I learned more from her than I did with my first two combined!
Unfortunately, circumstances beyond our control led to an induction at 38 weeks. I wasn’t feeling well throughout labor and barely could open my eyes due to the dizziness of medication I needed. Thankfully, Kayla was there to advocate for me and made sure the hospital staff respected my birth plan as much as possible. She held my hand through tears, checked on me continuously, and made me feel supported in every moment. Before labor, she even went to an appointment with me after noticing I was extremely anxious about the news we received. I was grateful to have her there as I talked through everything I was feeling. She truly cares!
All to say, her professionalism, compassion, and genuine love for what she does are truly unmatched! If you choose her as your doula, you will be so grateful you did!

Kayla is professional, kind, and easy to talk to. I was able to enjoy my second birth with my son who was almost 10lbs on my small 5’3” frame. Kayla helped me feel empowered, safe, and well taken care of with her medical knowledge. I will never forget her support during my pregnancy and birthing experience.
It is because of Kayla that I felt confident in my decisions and didn’t feel like I had to cave under pressure during any of my medical appointments and loved that I had footing to stand on to make informed choices.
She’s such a sweet person but became my personal bodyguard in the delivery room when I needed her to be and I am forever grateful for her presence and experience. My birth would not have been as smooth as it had been without her, I know that without a doubt!

Hiring a doula was a hard decision for my husband and myself. This was my first birth experience and that came with so much uncertainty. Ultimately we decided to start looking for a doula because I wanted my husband to have support during the birthing process (know how to advocate for our family, understand how to be involved, and how to help the overall birthing process).
What we found? We found a doula who not only supported my husband, but became the most crucial member of my birthing team. Kayla is EXCEPTIONAL! We were late to the game since we connected with Kayla when I was 34 weeks and delivered at 37 weeks. The amount of information she was able to give us in such a short time made my birthing experience empowering, calm, and supported. She helped us navigate decisions about not only the birthing process but also my son’s health in his first minutes of life. She continued to be a rock into my early postpartum days.
My advice to any family struggling with the decision about hiring Kayla…do it! The value she brought to my birth made a somewhat chaotic induction feel calm. I honestly don’t know what we would have done without her. She is your sounding board and support when you’re too tired/overwhelmed/pressured to advocate for yourself.
We loved working with Kayla and will absolutely be hiring her for our future births💕

Kayla was a Godsend.
I really wanted a doula for my second baby, as I didn’t have one with my first and there was a lot I had envisioned for that birth that didn’t go the way I wanted. I met Kayla at the time I was searching, and loved the way she described how she supported mamas before, during, and after the process. I connected with her and am so grateful to have had her as my doula. She helped me put to words the vision I had for the perfect birth, and helped facilitate achieving it through gentle communication, reminders, being so present throughout it all, and helping maintain clear communication.
Before the birth, she gave such great resources for preparation, and helped me feel calm and confident in my birth plan. She was very respectful and not overbearing at all, gave space when it was needed and was right at my side when I needed her. What stood out to me was not just how incredibly supportive she was before and during the birth experience, but how she stayed hours after just to make sure we were ok, settled, happy, peaceful with baby in arms, and that really meant a lot to us.
I would definitely recommend Kayla as a doula, and know that you’d be in really great hands!

Having a doula gave me clarity going through that process. It would not have gone as smoothly without Kayla.
